Paid Leave Ordinances that You Need to Be Aware of In Addition to PLAW

In my previous blog entry, I talked about significant laws taking effect in this new year of 2024 for employees/employers doing business in Illinois, including the monumental Paid Leave for All Workers (PLAW) Act. You should be aware that (in classic Chicago fashion) both Cook County and the City of Chicago have their own paid leave ordinances that supersede PLAW. In this blog post, I will present a number of new laws that are taking effect or have taken effect in 2024 that are likely relevant to small, medium, and large businesses domiciled in Illinois or that have employees in Illinois. I hope this information is useful to the HR professional, entrepreneur, or anybody else who is curious.
